Torqin’ ‘bout Our Customers – Cardross Mining

You may have noticed their new building in Grace Street and thought to yourself “who are Cardross Mining and what do they do exactly?” Well Cardross Mining is one of IBS’ many valued customers. Administration Manager and Director, Christine Heath took the time to answer some questions so we could find out the history of Cardross and what it is exactly that they do.

What does Cardross Mining  do?

We are a total drill, blast and mining company that offer our     expertise to mine sites, quarries and other companies that require our services.

When did Cardross begin business?

Cardross was first started in 1990 by Jim & Kathy Genocchio, but in 2007 they retired and Anthony Genocchio, Ben and Christine Heath bought them out and created Cardross Mining Pty Ltd, which is now the continuing business

What do you do in your new building and why did you build it?

Our new office and workshop was built as we wanted to be close to town and our suppliers.  We also wanted to look more professional and be able to host our own training and expansion.

What’s unique about your business?

Our company’s expertise in the drill, blast and mining industry has been fine tuned over the last 4 years and we are specialists in our field.  Not every business can just blow up dirt and drive heavy equipment – you need specialised training, licences and professional staff all combined together.  We provide all the training and offer our employees the chance to grow within the company.

Who are some of your customers?

We work for a variety of clients – Kagara Pty Ltd, Miriwinni Lime, MCG group, WATPAC, Mackay Regional Council, M&G Crushing and Kidner Contracting.

Why do you keep your business in Innisfail?

We are firm believers of trying to use local businesses for our supplies and consumables.  Around 80% of our suppliers are based in the Innisfail area, and we do try to work with them to get the best pricing etc.

What does IBS do for you?

IBS supply a lot of our work boots, consumables items, PPE equipment and they even modified one of our smaller trucks to a service truck for a mine site.

Thanks to Christine for the answers.  All of us here at IBS congratulate Cardross on their new building and wish them the best!
